Masset

we offer throughout the seasons involve exploring the natural
wonders of the islands by land, air or sea. Often called "the
northern Galapagos," the Charlottes are home to many unique
species of plants and animals. The rich culture of the islands is
evident through the lives and history of the Haida people who call
these islands home.
Nature
Watching
The
Queen Charlotte Islands offer superb opportunities for viewing of
marine and land animals within its boundaries.
Sitka
Blacktail Deer, Bald Eagles and Black Bears can be readily seen
along the banks of the many salmon bearing streams. In the ocean,
pods of Humpback Whales and Orcas , Dolphins, Porpoises, and
numerous species of marine life are easily spotted from the shores
of these heavily forested islands.

House is situated just a short stroll from the Delkatla Wildlife
Sanctuary, a popular haven for birders visiting the islands. As a
major waypoint along the Pacific flyway, Delkatla plays host to a
wide variety of birdlife.
Hiking
A
short hike into the rainforests will explain why the Queen
Charlottes are seen as one of the last great frontiers of the
world. Red Cedar and Sitka Spruce trees exceeding 500 years of age
can be found towering above the deep mossy carpet that is the
forest floor. The stunning expanse of North Beach stretches off in
the distance, giving way to breathtaking sunsets that you will not
soon forget.
Kayaking
The
Queen Charlotte Islands provide some of the best kayaking waters
to be found anywhere. The unique rugged landscape of the
Charlottes
makes for a memory-filled day navigating around the numerous
inlets, beaches and headlands as you explore the islands' calmer
waters.
Mountain
Biking

trails and beaches of the
Charlottes
offer the mountain bike enthusiast an endless variety of routes -
rewarding everyone from the beginner right through to the expert.
Haida
History
These
islands are known as Haida Gwaii, the ancestral homeland of the
Haida people. The Haida have lived on these islands for thousands
of years and today their thriving cultural community offers the
visitor unique and interesting experiences. Take a tour and learn
some of the rich history, try some of the local foods or gaze in
amazement at the hand-carved artifacts which the Haida have
mastered the art of creating.
